Crookham Rovers Sharks edge thrilling 4–3 win over league leaders Cove Youth

Crookham Rovers Sharks produced a stunning performance to defeat top-of-the-table Cove Youth 4–3 in a pulsating North East Hampshire League Youth Division 2 clash at Cody Sports and Social Club.

The Sharks made a dream start, with Bray Stephenson firing home after just 25 seconds to give the hosts an early lead. Henry Vermeulen then doubled the advantage from the penalty spot before half-time, sending Crookham into the break two goals to the good.

Vermeulen struck again early in the second half to make it 3–0, but Cove Youth showed why they sit at the top of the table by clawing their way back into contention with two quick goals. They were pushing for an equaliser when Wilson Perreira restored Crookham’s cushion with a composed finish to make it 4–2, and although the visitors pulled one back late on, the Sharks held firm to seal a memorable victory.

Manager Federico Ardiles praised his team after the final whistle, saying: “That was a strong team performance from start to finish. The boys showed real courage and discipline against an excellent side.

“We knew we’d have to be at our best, and every single player gave everything for the badge,” he added.
